What is this 1950’s Movie called?
Hello,
I remember watching a movie on cable about I’d say 10 years ago, it was like on TNT or TMC or somthing like that, and the movie was from the 1950’s and it was about (i think) a half black half white girl or possibly just super light skined, and she was gorgeous, whos mother was a black maid, and i think they lived together in the home where her mother was a maid. And I am not sure what else really happens from there, but i remember asking my mother what it was called, and she told me “the color of life” and i was thinking about it the other day and i tried to google it and I cant seem to find anything on it. so i dont think that is the name. But mostly I remember crying becuase it was such a good movie. And if it helps the movie was in Color. And I would love to see it agian. Can anyone help?
Hooray! I’m first! I know that TCM showed this recently and does air it on a fairly regular basis. I’ve seen it dozens of times over the years. In fact, my family saw it in the theater way back when I was about 8 years old.

When they first meet, Lora Meredith (Lana Turner) and Annie Johnson (Juanita Moore) have a good deal in common. They are both single mothers struggling to make a life for themselves and their daughters, Susie and Sarah Jane (Terry Burnham and Karin Dicker). Lora is an aspiring model and actress who needs someone to look after Susie when she goes out on photo shoots or casting calls. Susan Kohner was a beautiful girl and a very good actress who seemed to get overlooked though she had some very good roles. She reminds many people of Natalie Wood.
